Around 8 pm on Saturday 14th October 2017. My wife gets down of rickshaw and is taking out some cash to pay the fare to the rickshawpuller. Suddenly two men on motorbike come from the opposite side and halt near her. One of them gets down, snatches her purse, then rides the pillion and both flee the place. My wife raises the alarm and the guards of my apartments rush and so do the security guards of neighboring establishments. But by that time the snatchers had fled. My wife dialled 100 and a PCR (Police) van came soon enough. So far they could not make much headway. Hope they crack the case.
Now some moot points for consideration:
1. The miscreants wore no helmets. Implies they were not bothered about concealing their identity. Is this daredevilry or foolhardiness, I cannot decide. But one possibility seems a surity that they must be well equipped to defend themselves.
2. The place where I reside (Kaushambi) is considered a VIP area of Ghaziabad as it borders Delhi and has many VIPs residing there. Remember Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal used to live here and even run his government from here for quite sometime till he shifted his residence to Delhi. There are many other public figures living here.
3. There are at least four banks and five ATMs with guards and cctvs within 100 metres along the road that leads to our building gate. Their security appears a sham. Remember today's snatching case was just one from the rising list of such cases. CCTVs are ineffective in the absence of proper lighting of the streets. The snatching took place below a light pole but there was no light.
4. The incident happens rt. at the gate of the residential society. A random case. Implies no one is safe even within the range of the residential premises in an area with maximum police security (because of VIPs and banks).
5.I am sure Kaushambi is just one example. Suggest how can we take it up?
